Favorite Fall Photo Locations in Amsterdam

Writer: Teresa Ivall Teresa Ivall

De Krijtberg

De Krijtberg Kerk is a Roman Catholic church located on Singel right in the heart of the canal district. This area comes to life in the autumn and I've done so many portrait sessions with the church and autumn foliage as the backdrop. This is the area I photographed most last season, and am eager to photograph again this year! There are also plenty of nearby places to grab a warm beverage to help warm you up between photos.

Lomanstraat

Lomanstraat is probably the most photographed street in the city come fall. This location is right next to Vondelpark and is home to a nice quiet family neighborhood. The massive trees on this street intersect to create a canopy of golden leaves. This street is absolutely magical in the fall, and a great spot to add to your autumn landscape portfolio. I recommend bringing your bike and riding down the middle for the best experience.

Hendrik Jacobszstraat

Right around the corner from Lomanstraat is Hendrik Jacobszstraat where you will find this beautiful ivy covered building. Ivy changes from green to the most beautiful orange and red ombre this time of year, and it is breathtaking when it covers buildings like this. Some of my favorite photos of myself were taken in front of this building.

Amsterdam Forest

The Amsterdam Forest, or Amsterdamse Bos, is a short cycle from the city center. The whole forest is worth exploring, especially in the fall when the endless amount of trees are all orange and yellow. This place is perfect for family photos as you will have lots of room to spread out without having to worry about other people. It's also a great place for a relaxing cycle or kayak, and make sure to stop by to see the goat farm and Highland cattle!

Leidsegracht

On Leidsegracht you will get a very classic view of Amsterdam with bridges and intersecting canals. It's even better in the fall when you get the reflections of the trees in the water. I would recommend taking photos around Leidsegracht in every season, but especially if you're visiting in the Fall.

Vondelpark

Vondelpark is the biggest park in the city, and there are quite a few locations in this park that look particularly amazing during the autumn season. There's lots of little nooks and bridges surrounded by changing trees that will give your photos that perfect European fall look. This is a great option for people who want photos that have some elements of the city, but more of a focus on nature.
